| Description | Measure replaces existing HVAC system (if any) with a Fan Coil with DOAS HVAC with air cooled Chiller system (one DOAS per floor). |
| Modeler's Description | The fan coil with DOAS system (centralized DOAS, with zone level conditioning) is applied to all space types except Cafeteria, Kitchen, Gym, and Auditorium; packaged single zone equipment is applied to those zones. In select cases, the user is given the option to preserve existing HVAC schedules. In other cases, new schedules are generated that align with ZEDG recommendations. Air handler with chiller, gas-fired boiler and DOAS is a widely used HVAC system in schools and was thus included in the analysis. An air-cooled chiller was preferred over a water-cooled chiller by the project committee. The main reason being the later has maintenance issues which school districts want to avoid due to shortage of funds and personnel. |
